Hearing Aid Treatment Plans in Leicester

Choosing hearing aids is a big decision, and the device is only part of it. How well your hearing aids are fitted, and how well they’re looked after over the years, makes just as much difference. At Hear With Ish in Leicester, your hearing aid treatment plan covers the whole journey: a thorough assessment, honest advice on the right hearing aids, a careful fitting, and aftercare that keeps them working well.

You’ll see Ish herself at every stage, not a different person each time. We’re independent, so we can recommend hearing aids from leading manufacturers, including Phonak, Oticon, ReSound, Starkey and Widex, based on what suits you rather than one brand. And we’ll explain every cost clearly before you decide.

Your hearing aid journey, step by step

1. Your hearing assessment

Everything starts with understanding your hearing. Our in-depth hearing assessment takes around 100 minutes and costs £120. Ish asks about your hearing, your health and the situations you find hardest, looks inside your ears, and tests your hearing in detail, including how well you follow speech in background noise. If you’d like a quicker first look, a 20-minute hearing screen costs £20.

2. Talking it through and choosing

Ish explains your results in plain English, then talks through whether hearing aids would help and which types suit your hearing, your lifestyle and your budget. You’ll be able to see different styles, from small rechargeable aids that sit behind the ear to custom aids that fit inside it. There’s no pressure to decide on the day. Our hearing solutions page explains the options in more detail.

3. Fitting

Once you’ve chosen, we order your hearing aids and arrange your fitting as soon as they arrive. Ish programmes them to your hearing, sets up any phone or TV connection, and shows you how to wear, clean and charge them.

4. Settling in

Getting used to hearing aids takes time. Your brain needs to get used to sounds it may not have heard clearly for a while. Ish will see you again to fine-tune the settings as you adjust. Hearing aids we supply come with a 30-day satisfaction period, as set out in our terms and conditions, so you can be sure they’re right for you.

5. Aftercare

Hearing aids need regular care to keep performing well, and your hearing can change over time. You can pay as you go, choose our 2 Year Aftercare plan, or choose our Complete Care Plan, which includes your hearing aids and five years of care (see the comparison below). Hearing aids we supply come with a 5-year manufacturer warranty. If something goes wrong, we deal with the manufacturer for you, and we’ll always try to provide a loan device so you’re not left without help.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book directly with us. No referral is needed.

How much do hearing aids cost?

It depends on the style and the level of technology. As a guide, the NHS says private hearing aids can cost anything from £500 to £3,500 or more for a single hearing aid. Ish will explain exactly what you’d be paying for, and why, before you decide. Our Complete Care Plan, which includes two hearing aids and five years of one-to-one care, starts from £3,000. Your in-depth hearing assessment costs £120.

Do you offer finance?

Yes. Finance options are available on our Complete Care Plan. Ask Ish for details when you come in.

What’s included when I buy hearing aids from Hear With Ish?

Your hearing aids, your fitting and programming, follow-up appointments while you settle in, and the aftercare agreed with Ish when you buy. You’ll know exactly what’s included before you commit.

Can I try hearing aids before I commit?

Hearing aids we supply come with a 30-day satisfaction period. If they’re not right for you and you return them within that time, in line with our terms and conditions, we’ll refund the purchase price.

Are NHS or private hearing aids better?

Neither is right for everyone. The NHS provides hearing aids free on long-term loan, with free batteries, repairs and follow-up appointments. Going private costs money, but gives you a wider choice, including smaller and less visible models, and more time with your audiologist. Our guide to NHS vs private hearing aids goes into more detail.

I have NHS hearing aids. Can I still come to you?

Yes. You can see Ish for a private hearing test, ear wax removal or advice about your options. NHS hearing aids are on loan from the NHS, so repairs and adjustments to them usually go back to your NHS hearing aid provider.

How do I know which hearing aid is right for me?

The right hearing aid depends on your hearing test results, the places you find it hardest to hear, how easily you can handle small parts, how much you mind them being seen, and whether you want phone or TV streaming. Ish will narrow it down for you. Our practical guide to choosing a hearing aid is a good place to start.

Will I be pushed into buying the most expensive option?

No. We’ll show you what different levels of technology offer and recommend what genuinely suits your hearing and lifestyle. You may not need the top level, and Ish will tell you if that’s the case.

How long does it take to get used to hearing aids?

It varies, and it can take a few weeks or months. Wearing your hearing aids regularly helps your brain adjust faster, and your follow-up appointments let Ish fine-tune the settings as you go.

How long do hearing aids last?

Most hearing aids last between four and six years with proper care. Regular cleaning, servicing and check-ups help them last as long as possible.

What warranty do your hearing aids come with?

Hearing aids we supply come with a 5-year manufacturer warranty. If something goes wrong, we deal with the manufacturer for you.

What happens if my hearing aids break?

Contact us and we’ll get you seen as quickly as we can. For hearing aids we supply, we handle the warranty with the manufacturer for you, and we’ll always try to provide a loan device while yours are away.

Do I have to buy an aftercare plan?

If you’d rather not commit to a plan, you can pay as you go with one-off appointments at £50 each, which include an ear examination and a clean, check and fine-tune of your hearing aids. If you’d like longer cover, you can choose our 2 Year Aftercare plan (£499) or our Complete Care Plan, which includes your hearing aids and five years of care. Ish will talk you through the options when you buy.

I bought my hearing aids somewhere else. Can you help?

In many cases, yes. Bring them in and Ish will check what can be done. A one-off appointment (£50) includes an ear examination and a clean, check and fine-tune where possible. If your hearing aids need reprogramming, Ish will tell you honestly whether that’s something she can do.

Will my hearing aids work with my phone and TV?

Most modern hearing aids connect to smartphones by Bluetooth, so you can take calls, stream audio and adjust settings through an app. Accessories such as a TV connector or a remote microphone can help in harder situations. Ish will set this up at your fitting.
